Assam: A celestial land on the foothills of the Himalaya and an inseparable part of India, yet unknown to and unrecognized by a lot of people even in the mainland is the state called Assam.
The beauty of Assam can merely be described or measured with this (or any) blog.
Assam is a state with a very rich cultural heritage. A total of Forty-five(45) languages are spoken by different communities in Assam(source:Wikipedia). Other than the Assamese and Bodo languages (majority), people speaks several other languages like Mishing, Dimasa, Deori, Bengali, Tiwa, Karbi etc. Assam has many ethnic groups and the People of India project has studied 115 of these. Each of these groups have different cultures and traditions which adds to its cultural enrichment.
The people of Assam are fun loving and mostly known for their creativity, sports and their talent in music and dance. Different cultural festivals like Bihu(three times a year), Rash-mahotshav, ali-ai-ligang, Durga puja, Diwali, holi etc are celebrated throughout the year. The numerous variety of food items and dishes are worth mentioning.

Assam is the world's largest tea-growing regions producing mostly black tea. It also produces more than half of India's petroleum(Digboi, Numaligarh, Noonmati).
As i have said earlier, Assam is a celestial land with a lot of enchanting natural sceneries. The mesmeric scenes of streams and rivers coming down from the hills and the stunning sunset on the river Brahmaputra is worth seeing. Assam is also a home for some unique and endangered species like golden langur, one-horned rhino, Deohanh, Gharial and several others found in the National parks & wildlife santuries like Kaziranga National park, Manash wildlife Sanctuary, Dibru Saikhowa National Park, Orang National Park, Nameri National Park, Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary, Sonai Rupai Wildlife Sanctuary.

Sivsagar and Tezpur are two
important historical places of Assam. The Rang Ghar, Talatal Ghar,
Kareng Ghar and Hibo dol of Sivasagar and Agnigarh of Tezpur is worth a
visit.
